The Happy Harmonizer

Sensitive | Generous | Peacemaker

Can’t we all just live in harmony? Peace, spirituality, goodwill and personal connections are what you are made of. As a social type, you prefer to work in friendly environments where you can chat with others and work at your own pace.

You dedicate everything to ensure the happiness of others and don’t want to inconvenience anyone. But being so sensitive to others' needs while ignoring your own can be dangerous, you gotta put yourself first sometimes! While prioritizing your values is important, you gotta consider your own tasks and goals too. Finding the balance is one of your biggest obstacles. So, moving forward, drop the guilt and give yourself permission to make your organizing journey all about what you think, not what others think. Mmmmk?

If you are struggling to find your way to organization or maintain it, then a buddy system would be your best bet to get things done. As long as you have company and maaaybe a glass of wine, you are ready for action, just don't forget that your friend is there to inspire not distract you!

And while others may perceive you as dependent or talkative, they just don’t realize that  connecting with others is what makes you such a caring and thoughtful person.

ORGANIZING STYLE

Staying connected with your environment gives you a feeling of harmony and wholeness and it helps you thrive. Organizing must be simple, esthetically pleasing and fun for you. The end result should allow you more time to spend with the people that you love, rather than maintaining stuff! You like your home warm and cozy with lots of things around you creating a sense of abundance and a sensitive, nurturing environment.

It’s important to keep your space inviting for friends and family to stick around and feel good. But organizing is about keeping things together in a way that isn’t exhausting. Examine what makes you feel good about yourself in your space and organize accordingly.

Since your belongings are so personal it can be challenging for you to part with them. Editing your environment slowly and one small space at a time will help you feel less emotional about the process of letting go.

DESIGN TIPS!

  • Consider Feng Shui for the art of placement to connect with natural forces and enhance your energy flow

  • Use relaxing color tones, comfortable furniture and easily maintained systems

  • Decorate with photos, plants and inspirational books and art

  • Keep things people oriented and unstructured

  • Use big, open storage but do not not micro organize the contents

  • Use wicker or leather baskets for every day storage

PRODUCTIVITY // TIME

Finding the balance between your internal world and external can sometimes take a toll on how much you get done. Why spend precious time on tasks and to-dos when you can have a cup of coffee with a friend instead? Because freedom is important to you, consider using your calendar to schedule specific activities to accomplish weekly or monthly (without being too rigid) and reward yourself when completed. Happy hour anyone? Taking frequent breaks will help you connect with people and give you the energy to do less favorite tasks.

Your calendar should be playful and enjoyable. Use stickers, colorful pens and eccentric paper to help make daunting tasks more fun. (Pro tip… Keep one calendar rather than many or a dry erase board with lots of color that you can erase when you accomplish your tasks.) Just make sure your thinking isn't too detailed, leave that to the left brain thinkers. Traditional organizing approaches with big broad generic categories are best for you, and it won’t hurt to include photos to look at or music in the background that generate good feelings as you do the task.
